CRWP recieved a grant from the US EPA Great Lakes Restoration Initiative to partner with the City of Wickliffe and Cleveland Metroparks on a project to restore 640 feet of streams and wetlands in the Deer Creek/Gully Brook watershed. The project will reduce soil erosion and the quantity of nutrients and streambed sediment entering the Chagrin River and Lake Erie.
The Regional Oil & Gas Exploration and Extraction Commission was formed in January 2015 to educate participating Northeast Ohio communities and their citizens about the benefits and risks associated with the extraction of hydrocarbons in their area. The Regional Commission is a collaboration of regional governments, scientists, and residents interested in understanding the complex issues related to drilling for oil and gas in residential neighborhoods. The Regional Commission recognizes that there are widely diverse municipalities with different population densities, zoning laws, and residential, commercial and industrial profiles and thus may have divergent interests in regard to oil and gas exploration and extraction. The Regional Commission studied oil and gas exploration and extraction issues, and produced a report and recommendations, which are available at www.rcogw.com.
In conjunction with local and state agencies, CRWP has developed a number of model zoning regulations for the use of our member communities.
CRWP can help Member communities implement their Phase II plans
