CRWP Celebrates 30 Years with Bus and Boat Tours
In August, Chagrin River Watershed Partners (CRWP) celebrated its 30th anniversary by bringing board members, staff, community members, and partners together for a series of bus and boat tours highlighting the people, projects, and partnerships that make watershed protection possible.
On Monday, August 24, CRWP hosted its 30th Anniversary Bus Tours, offering participants two tour options: the Regional Partnership Highlights Tour and the Chagrin River Headwaters to Mainstream Tour. Participants met CRWP staff and partners, visited local conservation projects, and learned more about the importance of watershed protection and sustained water funding. The tours provided an opportunity to see firsthand the work happening throughout the region and the collaborative partnerships that have helped CRWP advance watershed health for three decades.
Later in the week, CRWP partnered with the Ohio Environmental Council and Tinker’s Creek Watershed Partners for a boat tour in Eastlake which offered a firsthand look at completed and future coastal restoration projects on Lake Erie. Led by local project partners and officials, the tour gave participants a firsthand look at how state and federal investments are improving water quality, strengthening natural infrastructure, enhancing community resilience, creating recreational opportunities, and supporting Ohio’s economy.
Congressman Dave Joyce highlighted the importance of protecting Lake Erie and recognized CRWP’s 30 years of work to advance watershed health. “The lake is one of Northeast Ohio’s greatest assets, and I am grateful to organizations like CRWP for their 30 years of work to protect it and keep our waterways healthy,” said Congressman Joyce. “I look forward to continuing these conversations and making sure Northeast Ohio’s priorities are heard in Washington.”
Representative Daniel Troy of Ohio’s 23rd House District also attended the boat tour. He commented: “As a lifetime Northeast Ohio resident, I can remember when Lake Erie and the tributaries that feed into it were of questionable water quality. Thanks to the collaboration of federal, state and local governments, and the dedicated work of agencies like the Chagrin River Watershed Partners, a remarkable restoration has taken place. The quality of life for the citizens of our lakefront and riverside communities has been vastly improved due to those efforts.”
Together, the tours showcased the power of partnerships and public investment to create lasting environmental, community, and economic benefits.
